GOSPEL TRACTS

Coming to the Lord

Before I believed in the Lord, I liked to read about all kinds of philosophical ideas and literary reviews, but whenever I finished a book, I would always feel thirsty and would have to find new books to read. However, wondrously, ever since I came into contact with the Bible, I have never become tired of this book no matter how much I read it. The Bible is God’s speaking—the more I read it, the more I love it and the more enjoyable it becomes.

Many people who graduated from graduate school testified that when they first saw their thesis, their “masterpiece,” published as a book with their name printed on it, they would rejoice for a while. However, very soon, they went to seek after new goals, always feeling dissatisfied deep within. What is the reason for this?

The answer is in God’s word. The Lord said: “Everyone who drinks of this water shall thirst again” (John 4:13). All temporary things cannot quench the thirst that is deep within man. Man thirsts regardless of how much he drinks of “this water.” The more he drinks of this water, the more he thirsts. This is because when God created man, He put eternity into man’s heart, that man may seek God, the eternal One. Therefore, temporary things cannot satisfy man. Only the eternal God, Jesus Christ, can satisfy the sense of purpose in the depths of man.

The Lord later said: “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink” (John 7:37). Dear friend, come! The Lord has promised us that “whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall by no means thirst forever; but the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into eternal life” (4:14)

Let us pray together: “Lord Jesus, I receive You. In You is the source of life. Lord, flow in me, bring me into eternal life, and quench my thirst. Lord, please continue to flow in me again and again.”
