Who Is Jesus? Three Reasons You Can Believe in Jesus

Who is Jesus? Is He the Son of God? Let us briefly discuss the life of Jesus and the reasons why it is not unreasonable to believe in Him. Let us look at the history to see if there is any evidence of God’s revelation concerning Him.

Jesus Clearly Declaring that He is God

He equated man’s attitude to Him with man’s attitude to God. He said that to know Him is to know God, to see Him is to see God, and to believe into Him is to believe into God (John 12:45; 14:1, 9).

Who is Jesus—the Son of God?

When we consider the declaration of Jesus about His identity, there are four possibilities. He might be a cheater, a lunatic, or a legend, or what He said was the truth. The first possibility is that Jesus was lying when He said that He is God. But if He was an intentional liar, He could not have been called a great moral teacher. The second possibility is that He was a lunatic. However, when we examined Jesus’ life, we could not find any evidence to prove that He had a mental problem. The third possibility is that the theory of “Jesus is God” is merely a legend. However, this theory of legend has already been overthrown by many discoveries from modern archaeologists. The fourth possibility, which is the only possibility, is that what Jesus said was entirely true. He truly has evidence to prove His declaration concerning Himself. He said: “But if I do them, even if you do not believe Me, believe the works so that you may come to know and continue to know that the Father is in Me and I am in the Father” (John 10:38).

Evidences from Jesus’ Life

First, Jesus’ human virtues match His declaration. The Bible says: “[He] committed no sin, nor was guile found in His mouth” (1 Pet. 2:22). Second, Jesus has shown His supernatural power. He rebuked the winds and the sea, turned water into wine, and raised the dead. His enemy did not deny these miracles but wanted to kill Him because of them. They said: “If we let Him do so, all will believe into Him” (John 11:48). Third, Jesus has confirmed His declaration of resurrection from death. He has predicted five times that He would die, how He would die, and that He would be raised from the dead on the third day and appear to His disciples.

If Jesus is truly the Son of God

If Jesus truly has resurrected, then we can have the full assurance that God indeed exists, and we can also know what kind of God He is and how we can personally experience Him. Now you can welcome Jesus into your life. You may tell Him: “O Lord Jesus, thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. Please forgive my sins and enter into me. Thank You for allowing me to have a genuine relationship with You.”
