Message Three
Christ
I. In Genesis Jacob was a type of Christ as a prince of God; Joseph was a type of Christ beloved by God the Father—Gen. 32:27-28; 37:3.
Gen. 37:3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his sons, because he was the son of his old age; and he had made him a coat of many colors.
II. In Exodus Christ is the slain lamb of the Passover—Exo. 12:6-8.
Exo. 12:6 And you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month; and the whole congregation of the assembly of Israel shall kill it at twilight.
III. In Kings Christ is a Judge and also a prophet of salvation—2 Kings 1:9; 4:33-35.
2 Kings 4:35 And he got down and walked about in the house once to and fro. Then he got up and stretched himself over him, and the boy sneezed seven times. Then the boy opened his eyes.
IV. In the four Gospels Christ is a perfect man, the complete God, the King, and a Slave—Matt. 26:39; Mark 10:45; Luke 1:31-32; John 14:10.
Luke 1:31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call His name Jesus.
V. In Acts Christ as the life-giving Spirit—Acts 1:8-9.
Acts 1:8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
VI. In Romans Christ is the redemption of the church and the life of the church—Rom. 12:5; 8:29-30.
Rom. 8:29 Because those whom He foreknew, He also predestinated to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He mignt be the Firstborn among many brothers.
VII. In Galatians is the Christ who enables us to live a life that is versus the law, religion, tradition, and forms.—Gal. 2:20; 3:28.
Gal. 2:20 I am crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me ; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
VIII. In Philippians is the Christ who is lived out of His members—Phil. 1:20-21.
Phil. 1:21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
IX. In Ephesians and Colossians is the Christ who is the life, the content, and the Head of the Body, the church—Col. 1:17-18.
Col. 1:18 And He is the Head of the Body, the church; He is the beginning, the Firstborn from the dead, that He Himself might have the first place in all things.
X. In 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus is the Christ who is God’s economy, enabling us to know how to conduct ourselves in the house of God—1 Tim. 3:15.
1 Tim. 3:15 But if I delay, I write that you may know how one ought to conduct himself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and base of the truth.
XI. In the Epistles of Peter is the Christ who enables us to take God’s governmental dealings administered through sufferings—1 Pet. 1:6-7.
1 Pet. 1:7 So that the proving of your faith, much more precious than of gold which perishes though it is proved by fire, may be found unto praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
XII. In the Epistles of John is the Christ who is the life and fellowship of the children of God in God’s family—1 John 1:1-3.
1 John 1:3 That which we have seen and heard we report also to you that you also may have fellowship with us, and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.
XIII. In Revelation is the Christ who is walking among the churches in this age, ruling over the world in the kingdom in the coming age, and expressing God in full glory in the new heaven and new earth for eternity—Rev. 21:24.
Rev. 21:24 And the nations will walk by its light; and the kings of the earth bring their glory into it.
